We are seeking an experienced and innovative Privacy Manager to lead a team of efforts across several business units to ensure regulatory implementation and establish trusted relationships to advance the client’s compliance with all legal forms of data use. The position will strategically work to align Privacy by Design principles at the earliest stages in development and make sure that the accumulation, analysis and actions the business chooses with data meet established regulatory compliance needs. This role will assist in developing new uses of data through programs, reviews and initiatives in the areas of privacy, data protection, governance and security within the several organizations. It also includes responsibility for implementing requirements and processes to ensure the client’s high ethical standards are met throughout the data use lifecycle. 

The Privacy Program Manager will be responsible for interacting with internal Legal, Compliance, Governance and Data Protection teams, as well as developing metrics to track, demonstrate, and expand compliant data use. The right candidate will also be required to be an active industry participant and contributor in Privacy forums and organizations. They must be excellent communicators and have an ability to translate the complex in to understandable and actionable forms. Additional work may be required in conducting data privacy impact assessments, information security gap analysis, and privacy audits.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages interactions with the client Privacy office and the client Information Governance Board to ensure compliance to Privacy by Design and Data Protection principles for its products, services and processes
  • Privacy expert to local Data Governance teams and maintains alignment with the client’s Information Governance Board
  • Identifies areas of improvement in local practices relative to managing data privacy
  • Performs regular privacy assessments of operational processes, identifying, and mitigating risks
  • Supports Big Data efforts pan-BU and advancing privacy accountability across the company through effective tools, training and guidance
  • Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to key stakeholders
  • Acts as key interface to data science and analytics communities both within and outside of the client
  • Ability to effectively lead Change Management efforts across an organization

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Law degree (J.D.) or related Data Privacy education and experience
  • 8+ years Project and People Management experience
  • PMP/PMI certification preferred
  • Privacy certification preferred (CIPP-E, CIPP-US, CIPM)
  • Familiarity with risk management principles
  • >5 years’ experience in privacy / data protection

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation), particularly the ability to communicate with diplomacy, credibility and confidence
  • Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results; and negotiate options at senior management levels
  • Demonstrated business acumen and successful experience managing all aspects of programs, including communicating with stakeholders and directing cross-functional teams and resources
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and balance risks in ambiguous and complex situations
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, in leading or contributing to global and multi-functional teams
  • Highly motivated to contribute and grow within a complex area of emerging importance
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence without authority
